In Glassell Park, a small community in Los Angeles, California, the International House of Universal Goods (IHUG) has created a unique way of bringing people together and spreading good vibes. Through its Friendship Lamp program, IHUG is connecting people in Glassell Park with one another, and bringing a sense of hope and connection to the area.
The Friendship Lamps are based on a simple concept: Two lamps are connected through a Wi-Fi network and when one of them is touched, the other one lights up too. This simple act of connecting two lamps is a way of connecting two people, and showing them that they are not alone. For people in the Glassell Park area, this is especially important, as the area is often plagued by poverty, violence and social isolation.
The lamps were designed and implemented by IHUG, a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting communities and creating a sense of connectedness. IHUG believes that by providing a way for people to connect with each other, they can create an atmosphere of support and hope in areas that need it most.
The Friendship Lamps are part of a larger initiative by IHUG to create a sense of connectedness in the Glassell Park area. Through its various programs, IHUG is working to provide housing, education and employment opportunities for people in the area, as well as helping to create a sense of community and belonging.
The Friendship Lamps have been a great success, creating a tangible connection between people in the area, and helping to spread a sense of hope and positivity in the area. IHUG’s inspiring initiative is proof that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact, and that with enough effort, we can create a world where everyone can feel connected, supported and hopeful.
